WHAT WE ARE
TRYING TO DO
Over the past three years, we have created one of the only all student programs designated to cooking meals for homeless youth. Every single meal we cook is healthy, unique, and delicious. We serve to people 25 and under. Once we have served the food, each student serves themselves, and then we sit down and play games or talk with the homeless people. We have partnered with our school to teach classes such as art, English, and business courses. We are raising money to allow us to teach more classes and life skills to the homeless kids that we serve.
The meals we cook are healthy and sustainable creations formed with ingredients donated by the Oregon Food Bank (OFB) and recipes planned, prepared, and served by high school students. Classes are provided for free by teachers volunteering after school to offer drawing, writing, and business classes to the people being served. CardsCook is an official Lincoln High School Portland Public School Club. Its partner, Clay Street Table, provides supervision and insurance. CardsCook chefs have undergone training and have their food handlers license.
